Cezanne lived in his hometown of Aix during his later years. During this time, the painter worked in many places, and this work was the last work of the painter during his stay in the small village of Montegelur. For the depiction of landscapes, Cezanne has always maintained the valuable experience gained from Impressionism: Landscapes can never be painted as well in the studio as outdoors. He also believes that when the scene is presented outdoors, the contrast between the characters and the ground is astounding, and the landscape is spectacular. In this painting, the artist depicted hillsides, houses, bends, and plants from a direct observation point of view. He used ochre to represent the geometric walls of the building, and blue to outline the outline. This bold color combination makes the house stand out from the loose leaves around it, becoming the focal element that strikes the viewer's visual cells. The path of the same color curves down the mountain, guiding the viewer's line of sight to move with it, and is finally covered by the green plants in the foreground. However, the plants that give people a lush feeling are not composed of pure green or similar colors, but are composed of a variety of contrasting colors, which are ultimately endowed by Cezanne with a subtle sense of harmony and balance.
