"Christ of Saint John of the Cross" is a famous painting completed by Salvador Dali in 1951. The painting depicts Jesus on a cross, suspended in a dark sky, with a boat and fishermen in the water below. Although it depicts the crucifixion of Christ, the crucifixion, blood, and crown of thorns are missing because, Dali said, through a dream, he believed that these features would deface the Christ he depicted.
