The nine-colored deer is a horizontal-scrolling comic strip with eight plots, starting from the left and right ends and ending in the middle. The picture is: 1. Drowning people and falling into the water. 2. The nine-colored deer rescues the drowning people and Diao Da. 3. Diao Da kneels and thanks. 4. The queen asks the king to catch the deer. 5. Diao Da informs. 6. The king leads an army to catch the deer. 7. The crow wakes up the nine-colored deer. 8. The nine-colored deer complains Diao Da to the king.
This painting is based on the Buddha's Nine-Colored Deer Sutra.
The scripture says: When a man fell into the water and looked up to the sky for help, he was passing by the river when he heard the cry and came to the river. When he saw that the drowning man was about to be engulfed by the torrent, the nine-colored deer jumped into the water regardless of his own safety and rescued the drowning man. The drowning man thanked the life-saving grace and knelt down to the nine-colored deer and said, I am willing to be a slave to find aquatic plants for you.
The deer said not to be thankful, but one thing must not be revealed to outsiders where I live, and the drowning man agreed to go away. At this time, the king of this country doted on a deer, with nine-colored hair and two horns like silver. The next day, he told the king the dream, and asked the king to order the capture of the nine-colored deer, peel its skin to make a coat, and take its horns as a handle. The king put a bounty on the list. If anyone catches the nine-colored deer, he will be given a silver bowl of golden millet and half of the country.
The drowning man thought to himself that the deer was a beast, and I had nothing to do with my life or death. My opportunity to be promoted and rich has come. So he went to the palace to inform, and led the king to lead his troops into the mountain to catch the deer. At this time, the nine-colored deer was lying high in the mountain, without knowing it. The deer's friend, the crow, saw the arrival of the king's soldiers from a distance, and he flew into the sky and called the deer an alarm, but the nine-colored deer could not wake up. The crow fell from the sky and pecked at the deer's ears, and the deer woke up suddenly. Looking around, he was surrounded by the king's soldiers.
The deer immediately went to the king and asked the king, who told you that I was here? The king pointed to the drowning man and said it was him. When the deer saw the drowning man, he was very angry and revealed to the king that the drowning man was ungrateful and betrayed his benefactor. When the king heard the words and condemned the drowning man for injustice, he immediately released the nine-colored deer to return to the mountain, and ordered that if anyone caught the nine-colored deer in the country, the nine ethnic groups should be destroyed. At this time, the drowning man had already been retributed, and his body was covered with poisonous sores. The queen died of anger because the conspiracy failed.
