Woman by the Window is a 1952 oil painting by Pablo Picasso depicting his significant other Françoise Gilot standing by the window. Picasso met the young painter in May 1943 and she soon became a regular in his work.

In this painting, Françoise's side face is partially abstracted, outlined in sharp, angular areas of black, gray, and white. Her eyes are prominent and her nose is off center. The window on the right side of the painting is flooded with light, creating a contrast between chiaroscuro and chiaroscuro on her face. Her hands touch the window, completely shrouded in darkness, with only the subtle light coming through between her fingers to outline her fingers. Picasso used bold block colors and more decorative and intricate parts in this painting.
