In the early 1920s, the circular commemorative figure of Picasso's neoclassical period returned to his 1992 painting Two Women Running by the Sea, which contained all the traditional religious connotations. Neoclassicism was originally applied to the revival of classical themes, motifs and decorations in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, inspired by excavations of Pompeii in 1748 and the writings of the German archaeologist Winkelmann. In 1917, Picasso visited Pompeii and a number of Italian classical art museums, and their influence began to manifest itself in a series of monumental figures after the war. There was widespread opposition to the prewar excesses and violent origins of Cubism and Expressionism, and it was believed that the art world generally longed for the order, rationalized structure and humanity represented by this eighteenth-century movement.

The vivid blue and flowing hair here are fixed on the slender brown limbs, twisted and soft. There is a sense of fullness that makes you feel like this is the way of life - war has to be given up.

Picasso's use of color in this period was relatively rich and gorgeous, which greatly improved the warm and pleasant life atmosphere of the picture. The gray-yellow beach and clothes, the blue sea and sky, the brown-red human body and the black-brown curls, everything is so strong and thin, exuding exuberant vitality.
