This photo is the most famous in his Dora series and one of the most recognizable in a private collection. It has appeared in many publications over the years, including David Douglas Duncan's book Picasso's Picasso.

Electric red brings an intensity to the work that can only be enhanced by the colours of Dora's face and clothes, yellows, blues and greens, which create such a bold relief by contrasting with the almost monochromatic background. At the same time, in sharp contrast to these vibrant colours, the almost lavender-scented skin becomes like cool marble. Picasso fills the composition with jagged lines, peaks and stripes, especially through the hatching of the hairnet in the title, bringing the edgy and undulating feel usually associated with his depiction of Dora. At the same time, the sculptural gesture and the curves and swirls on the cheeks bring out a soft feeling that stands out even more against the skin tone.
